Case study on

UPS Systems new online presence,
which produces growth!

About the CMS

There are many CMSs out there, big ones, small ones, techie ones & easy ones. It’s all about choosing the right one for the job. UPS Systems had a clear objective of taking their one site (see the before shot) and then splitting it off, to offer a more direct message to each target market. We knew that or favourite CMS could do this perfectly. Enter WordPress.

WordPress is a powerful, but light weight CMS, that has a great ability at turning itself to almost any job. This one was no different.

We used WordPress as the platform to run the multiple sites from, but with just one install of it. This allows UPS Systems to “Jump” from site to site (from an admin point of view) without ever having to login more than once. It also allows them to create content once and then choose to publish that on one, two or all of their sites at once (that’s quite slick don’t you know?!).

From a user perspective each site looks like a separate site, with its own URL structure, content and contact information. Each site also has its own Google Adwords & Google Analytics targeted at it, allowing UPS Systems to drive traffic & track the results on a site by site basis.

This setup also allows UPS Systems to grant access to the admin area of the site, to selected users (which they can add/edit/remove themselves), they can add content to the sites (or just one) or they can create a draft ready for an “Admin” to publish at a later date.

The CMS also ties in to their Twitter account and can be used to publish news or any other content directly to Twitter, without having to leave the CMS.

Just a sincere thank you for all the work you have put into the new website. Not only does it look excellent but functionally it will now be a great platform for building and developing our online strategy from.

It’s been a surprisingly smooth and much easier experience than I expected not least due to the help and work you have put in. It’s also been a good learning experience in managing all the different parts involved - Adwords, etc. I think I am now spreadsheet blind!

Thanks again – I owe you a drink!
