Whilst wandering around Leamington Spa on Friday night (pre cinema) trying to find some where to eat we came across Kayal – a fairly recently opened Indian Restaurant.

The food is mainly authentic Keralan and South Indian, and therefore very different to standard Indian fare in the UK.

The service is friendly and the staff are happy to recommend dishes. I opted for mixed starters with a yummy lamb curry (Cheera Erachi) to follow – the meat was very tender and the taste was a lot softer than your regular Indian curry.

Mike had an amazing mixed seafood curry – he said it was the best he had.

The decor is a little naff with a TV playing showing the region which after a time could get a bit dull! (but nowhere near as bad as their website!!)

However the food and service ensures I will definitely go back.

Baby Bree - the calf

I had an exciting Saturday afternoon when one of the cows in the field at the back of our house gave birth to a gorgeous calf!

I arrived just after she had been born (thankfully I think, as she had to be pulled out hooves first by the farmer with a bizarre contraption!). Paul, the farmer told us that she would stand up after about 20 minutes but after 2 hours she was still lying on the ground with only one attempt to get up. Paul came back later and with much cajoling and force she stood up Bambi-esque and wobbling a lot.

I named her Daisy that night (very original and she isn’t even mine to name!), but after speaking to Paul’s wife the next day who informed me they already had a Daisy I renamed her Bree! There is a bit of logic to this! Her Mum is called Wisteria – Wisteria Lane – Desperate Housewifes – hence Bree! If there are any more girls then they shall also follow the ladies of Wisteria Lane accordingly!

Today she is gambolling around the field very cutely – I shall enjoy watching her progress.

How close were we??!

On Wednesday 25th November I went to the Albert Hall to watch a mammoth 3 hour set by Snow Patrol. Firstly: what a venue – such an awesome place and made even better by our seats 3 rows from the front!  It was a simple set, but it worked. Gary was incredibly charismatic and  he completely engaged with the crowd. And what a voice – in the words of Strictly’s CRH - AMAZING!

This annual transatlantic rally starting each November in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has now become the most popular way to cross the Atlantic. The largest transocean sailing event in the world, every year the ARC brings together over 200 yachts from all over the world. The Caribbean destination is Rodney Bay in St.Lucia, one of the most beautiful islands in the Lesser Antilles. The 2700 nautical mile passage on the NE tradewind route takes on average between 14 and 21 days.
